Last year a number of runners were accidently directed off the Run Leicester course. We remain very sorry for the incident and want to reassure runners that we take safety extremely seriously.
Following a review of our processes, we’ve implemented additional safety measures for 2026, including enhancements to our traffic management provision and infrastructure, event signage, and marshal requirements. We’ve also assessed the route for any other potentially hazardous areas and taken action where necessary to mitigate concerns. We’ll also be making adjustments to the lead car, which guides the front runners. This year, it will travel just one minute ahead of the lead runners instead of two, making it easier to see and follow. The safety of our runners is always our top priority, and we’re confident that these steps will help prevent a repeat of the incident.
