Thank you all for your understanding following the decision to cancel the Leicester Marathon / Half Marathon and associated relay races last weekend.
We know you are all disappointed, however it has been amazing to see so much support for the event, as well as all your photos from the virtual runs that many of you have already been undertaking.
A huge well done to everyone that has already been out and finished their virtual half marathon and marathons!

Entry Fee Refund / Donation Process
Thank you for your patience whilst we put a process in place for claiming a refund / donating your entry. As announced last week, whilst we have already incurred costs on the event we feel that it is the right thing to do to offer participants a refund of their entry fee.
However, as a not-for-profit race, we’d really like you to consider donating your entry fee to our charity partner LOROS, the Hospice for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
LOROS Hospice provides care and support for more than 2,500 terminally ill patients and their families every year. Your donation would be greatly appreciated and would serve as a crucial contribution in light of this unfortunate situation.
The Leicester Marathon raises more than £30,000 for the Hospice each and every year, and therefore, if you choose not to claim your refund, 100% of your entry fee will be donated to LOROS on your behalf.
How to donate your entry fee
Should you wish to donate your entry fee then you need simply not request your refund. The Leicester Marathon exists to raise vital funds for LOROS Hospice, and therefore should we have not received a request to refund your entry by the refund deadline of Tuesday 22nd October 2019, then your entry fee will be treated as a donation which we will make to LOROS Hospice on your behalf.

How to claim a refund
If you wish to claim a refund, then the button below will take you to the ResultsBase entry website, through which you will be able to save your preference on whether to receive a refund or not.
The deadline for saving your refund preference is midnight on Tuesday 22nd October 2019, after which time no further refunds can be claimed.
Once the refund deadline has passed, we will then process any requested refunds. At this time, anyone that has selected the option to receive a refund should expect to receive this within ten working days. This will be refunded to the payment card you used when you first registered for the event.
Should you have not updated your refund preference by Tuesday 22nd October 2019, then your entry fee will be treated as a donation which we will make to LOROS Hospice on your behalf.

A Huge Thank You!
Once again we want to say a huge thank you to you all for your support of the decision. There are a great many people that come together to make this event happen and therefore we’d like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to everyone that helps bring the event to life.
Thank you to all of our volunteers that had kindly agreed to give up their time marshalling the route, handing out water, helping out at Victoria Park.
Thank you everyone at local councils, environment and highways agencies that worked tirelessly in the run up to the event to help us try and put suitable alternatives in place.
Thank you to all of our supplies, many of who have been very helpful and understanding despite the unexpected cancellation of the event.
And finally, thank you to you, the runners, without whom we wouldn’t have an event in the first place. Thank you for your understanding and we hope that this year’s cancellation won’t put you off running with us in the future.
We’ll be back even bigger and better in 2020 so please watch this space.
